Supplements Through Food

Although most supplements are considered safe, and some are beneficial, there is no substitute for receiving vitamins through healthy food choices. For example, vitamin C contains ascorbic acid, but most of the benefits from vitamin C come from the large variety of bioflavanoids and polyphenolics in food. If you simply take straight vitamin C, you won't receive the same benefits.

Every time you consume a combination of fresh, living foods, such as fruits and vegetables, you are treating yourself to a cocktail of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals that work together synergistically to promote your health. The idea of separating each ingredient out and then treating it like a drug to cure a specific illness is not just impractical but insensible.
